5 Dressing Mistakes That Men Should Avoid On A First Date

We live in a world where people say I love you like it’s ‘hello’. What’s more difficult is to stay in love. Meeting a special someone for the first time or not, there are some dressing etiquette men should always follow. Who knows you might just impress her and make her ‘the one’ from ‘the one time’. But one thing is for sure – your dressing sense will tell her a lot about your tastes.

Dress as if you are already successful. Ever heard of this statement?

Better take it seriously if you’re on a date with a woman. So here are the best five dressing mistakes to avoid while getting dressed for a date.

Dress for the occasion

You know it’s a date and not an office meeting. For casual settings like a coffee or going to a movie, choose a nice T-shirt or a button-down top. Avoid shabby jeans at all cost. It’s good to avoid black shirt or T-shirt on a date as black is nowhere compared to a color reflecting brightness. If you are a skinny guy, you might want to avoid tight outfits as they take up your body shape and doesn’t look good either. Apart from all this, it is advisable to avoid laughing colors such as green pants and red shirt, the match of which makes one laugh. There isn’t anything wrong with dressing fun, but the occasion is a date and not a clown show, right?

Avoid wrinkled/shining clothes

Wrinkled attire makes you look like you slept with the same clothes on. This is sure to spoil the mood of a lady who is to date you. So better iron them up and hang on so that it looks neat on you.Iridescent shirts and shiny suits are a big no-no for dates. Bro, it’s a date, not a security guard designation. Fabrics like leather, cashmere, and fine wool make much more of an opulent statement of you. So decide wisely.

Designer labels overdoing

We know men love brands as much, if not more than women, so do not let the logo wear you instead of doing the opposite. Remember, the lady notices you as a person and not by what brand you have put on. After all, the designer or brand isn’t paying you for the free advertising. Is it? Same goes for jewelry. One or two rings are fine, but a diamond encrusted Mercedes symbol around your neck makes you look like a spoilt brat and not a man.

Small/Large sized clothes

Beg, borrow but don’t steal if you have overgrown your clothes. It looks like sausage casing than attire. And going too far in the opposite direction is just as bad as clothes shorter than your size. You can’t fool a women by adding cool fabrics to cover your belly, just in case you have put on some extra pounds. Same goes for pants that hang around and cover the shoe laces. That’s just not a man’s thing. Your dating, buddy. Gear up. Wear comfortable pants, Chinos just looks cool and goes with almost any shirt or tees. So avoid extra-long or short attire.

Know when to wear boots, when to take up sneakers. Anything close to a middle school formal shoes are a big no-no when it comes to the dating game. Wearing the wrong size is highly discouraged. Adventurous shoes are for adventure. Make sure you avoid them at all costs while on a date.

And most important of all, wear cologne slightly. If you are dating a lady, make sure she feels as if she’s got to hit the town with a well-dressed man. And yes, your dressing is incomplete without a smile. So wear a smile always coz that is the curve which sets all things straight.
